Spot On Portraits began humbly 20 years ago when I was an undergraduate art student in need of inexpensive models who were willing to pose for long stretches of time. My loyal companinion Spot became my go to model for nearly 15 years, during which time I painted his portrait at least a hundred different ways (he's the handsome guy you see on the top left of this page). We lost Spot last year, but his legacy lives on through Spot On Portraits.
I specialize in capturing that certain something that makes your pet unique. Working from your own photographs, I am able to make paintings of almost any size (please see accompanying price/size chart). Clients within 200 miles of Point Arena, CA may also choose to have me take the photographs for an additional fee that is dependant upon current mileage estimations. Commissioning parties interested in using their own pictures should attach up to five jpg images with 72dpi. I am able to work from almost any image, but direct lighting sources (strong enough to cast shadows) are preferable. The merging to multiple photos is possible, but requires an additional $50 fee. Please include specific information about aspects of your pet that you want depicted. For instance, I have had clients request that their dog's ears be perked upright, or a specific toy be included in the composition. Pricing reflects single head shots. Most commissions require a two-week turn-around. When orders are high, this timeframe will be extended depending on the number of commissions placed prior to your order. In this case, I will provide specific timelines to individual clients on a case-to-case basis. All winter holiday orders must be placed on or before November 10, in order to receive your portrait in time.

All commissions are painted on archival gessoboard unless otherwise specified. Your pets portrait arrives unframed, ready to hang with painted black 2 cradles.
Money-back guarantee: If you are unsatisfied with your pet portrait for any reason, you may return it within 14 days for a full refund minus materials, shipping and insurance costs. 50% of the portrait total is due in order for me to begin the portrait (or in order to place your name on the wiating list) The remainder is due prior to delivery.
